Tim Donnelly
Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer

Tim Donnelly is an accomplished medical device consultant with eight years of experience in the field. He has consulted in the OR’s of many of the Mid-Atlantic region’s leading health systems. He has excelled in the medical device industry primarily for his focus on areas often overlooked by his peers. He has always valued the opportunity to play a role in patient care and is known to provide unparalleled support to all stakeholders involved in the care and treatment of patients. Prior to his device career, Mr. Donnelly served in the United States Marine Corps as a Special Forces Operator charged with Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition. He has the work ethic one would expect from a United States Marine.

Derek J. Donegan, MD, MBA
Co-founder

Dr. Donegan is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. After receiving his BS from Ithaca College and his MD from Jefferson Medical College, he completed an Orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania and an Orthopaedic Trauma and Reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He went on to receive his MBA from the Temple University Fox School of Business. During his career, Dr. Donegan has amassed more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, written 10 book chapters, and has given over 50 presentations at the national and international level. Dr. Donegan’s clinical interests include pelvic and acetabular trauma, reconstructive arthroplasty, periarticular trauma surgery, geriatric fractures, the management of poly-trauma patients, and post-traumatic deformity. His research interests include outcomes following musculoskeletal trauma, biomechanical analysis of fracture fixation constructs, and healthcare economics.

James Krieg, MD
Co-founder

Dr. Krieg is Director of Orthopaedic Trauma and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. After receiving his BA from Northwestern University and MD from Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School, he completed an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of Iowa and a Fellowship in Orthopaedic Traumatology at Harborview Medical Center/University of Washington. Prior to joining the Rothman Institute, he served as a volunteer clinical faculty at Oregon Health and Science University and was an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Washington. Dr. Krieg was a founder of the Legacy Biomechanics Research Lab in Portland, Oregon and has been a regular consultant for orthopedic implant design companies for the majority of his 23-year career. He has authored three patents, two in the medical field. He is a Medical Venture Partner of BioStar Ventures, a physician-led venture capital firm. As a full-time clinician and physician leader he sees the need every day to remove the randomness from the delivery of healthcare.

Steve Pirone
Vice President Client Success

Steve Pirone has spent most of his career in the healthcare information technology industry.  Prior to joining ORtelligence, Steve had consulting, management, and service delivery roles for several healthcare electronic medical records companies, including Practice Director and Executive Consultant for e4-Services, Vice President of Consulting for Cerner Health Services, and Zone Services Vice President for Siemens Medical Solutions. He started his career with Shared Medical Systems in 1989 as a programmer/analyst in the software delivery organization. Steve holds undergraduate degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in both Computer Science and Physics and three master’s degrees in Management, Information Science and Software Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.
